Moving to Maryland Update

I have made so many friends during my program. I have made one in particular that is originally from North Carolina. She is going to be moving to Maryland with me so that we can easily afford rent. As much as I would love to spend $2,000 on an apartment on my own, it's not realistic. It will be a super fun exciting moving to a new city and getting experience with a friend whom is similar to me but different in good ways. She also has a good credit score which is hard to find amongst my peers. That will be happening in August after Hilton Head.

SUNY ADK Graduation

Since I am accepting the offer at Hilton Head for the summer. I will have the days May 11th-14th off. In that time I am going to drive to Savannah to catch a flight at 7am on the 11th. I will have to leave at like 1am because it's a five hour drive. Super fun! Then I will have a layover and meet my boyfriend in BWI. Then we will fly to Albany. Then the 13th I will be able to attend graduation. After graduation I will have a flight at 7pm and will arrive in Savannah at 12am on the 14th. Then I am going to move into the housing that morning at Hilton Head. It will be a crazy weekend but it will be worth it because I will be able to attend graduation! Being a first generation college student, it will mean a lot being able to graduate.

SUNY Oswego Update

I have officially registered for my classes for SUNY Oswego. I have to take a math class, we will see how that goes. I am super excited to be continuing my journey at SUNY Oswego. I think that they have a wonderful program. My GPA also resets because I am a transfer student (what a blessing). I am just debating if I will continue on to my masters there or transfer to another college. That's my little college update.

New Zealand Friend

While working at the Polynesian, I made friends with a girl from New Zealand. She is literally the funniest person you'll ever meet. She is staying here for a whole year. She is 20, so a year older than myself. She explained that her high school system is completely different than ours. They have specialties within high school. As well as the school hours are different. She has taught me words in her native language- she has to keep telling me over and over again because I am quite forgetful. Another fun fact, their money is different sizes; each dollar bill is a different size and color. They also have photos of the English royalty on them (England owns New Zealand).  We've had many encounters with little children thinking we are twins until we start talking. She has a New Zealand accent and I have an American accent. The thing about this situation that is super hysterical is that she is blonde and I am brunette. Not to mention we look nothing alike but we get mistaken for o...

Offer at Hilton Head

I applied to a position at Disney's Hilton Head Resort in South Carolina. I was accepted to work in a Food and Beverage Location. There are so many perks to this program. The housing is included and I will be making more an hour. I have accepted the position and so my program in Florida will be cut short! I will be ending here in May instead of June!

Plans After the College Program

This week I spent a lot of time planning for what happens after I go home and graduate from SUNY Adirondack. I have spent the week applying for summer jobs and contacting apartment complexes that I plan on moving into in the month of August. I after I get the summer jobs I will hopefully be working as a teller in a bank or relationship banker, depending on the requirements of each bank. I have also committed to SUNY Oswego for my bachelors. I think the game plan is to major in Business Administration with a minor in Health Sciences. I have been considering getting a job in something related to public health. I am not entirely sure what the complete end goal is. I am debating between public health and banking. That is why I am getting a job at a bank while getting my bachelors at the same time.

Week after Spring Break

Since I had the whole week off for Spring Break, I had to work 6 days the following week. It was not super bad. The only thing that is difficult is that I am still adjusting to working nights, since I naturally wake up at around 8am. So when I got to bed at 1am it is not ideal. Work went well, and I had no complaints. We have some new people training for our location. Other than that there are not many changes. I am almost halfway done which is super exciting, I cannot wait until I am back home.
